Flanked by Kensington Gardens on the east and Holland Park on the west, it’s no surprise that Kensington’s beautiful tree-lined streets contain some of London’s most desirable addresses. There are around 80 antique art dealers located along Kensington Church Street. For something a touch more up to date, High Street Kensington has all the main chain stores and a cluster of excellent outdoor pursuits outlets.
A relatively recent addition is the sumptuous Whole Foods Market, directly next to Barkers. The ultimate emporium for organic, wholesome foods.

Park of the House of Fraser chain, Kensington’s one-stop-shop is packed with quality clothing, cosmetics and homewares. Monsoon, Karen Millen, Warehouse and Hobbs are also located in the art deco arcade.

This upmarket emporium stocks only Egyptian cotton and pure linen in their luxury bedding range. The Kensington Church Street store also has cute cot-sized duvets, blankets and pillowcases, plus a range of perfumes and colognes.

Russell & Bromley can ne relied on to produce well made footwear that keep sup with the trends. As well as stocking their own label, R&B also sell DKNY, Stuart Weisman and Donald Pliner.
Urban Outfitters – 36-38 Kensington High Street W8. 020 7761 1001.
The hip, American retailers Urban Outfitters are a welcome addition to the UK, supplying everything you will ever need to be cool and trendy. Homeware items include Orb alarm clocks and Soho sofa beds. Fashionwise look for Surface to Air and the Urban Renewal range of vintage clothing. There’s also a lot of amusing novelty gifts and an excellent music shop where you can play records before you choose to buy.
