Much evidence points to this building being erected in the later part of the 19th century, although King William Walk has been here much longer. It dates back to the reign of William III who instigated the renovation of Greenwich Palace (which was the favourite home of many of the Tudors) after its conversion into a biscuit factory by Oliver Cromwell. The earliest record of a royal residence goes back to Edward I in the 13th century but no records exist of when the palace was originally built.
